A comprehensive energy master plan to reduce emissions and enhance operating margins through strategic sustainability investments
Privately owned, Queensland-based cattle, beef and food processing company, ACC partnered with NRG-ONE to help deliver their carbon and sustainability goals.
THE BRIEF:
Australia’s largest vertically integrated beef supply chain, ACC, is dedicated to the best practice supply of high-quality meat products to domestic and export markets. In 2024, ACC engaged NRG-ONE to lower emissions at their Cannon Hill site, which has a 350,000-head annual capacity. This included:
- A tailored process focused on sustainability-led construction to chart the facility’s energy and sustainability pathway.
- Working alongside the ACC team to conduct a wide-ranging energy assessment of their Brisbane beef processing facility to identify a series of practical solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve margin.
THE NRG-ONE SOLUTION:
Underpinned by NRG-ONE’s contracting, energy, and carbon management experience, our team worked closely with ACC to quantify energy and carbon savings, plus construction costs to optimise their pipeline of sustainability investments. Together, we delivered a comprehensive energy master plan to help ACC navigate their low-carbon pathway. NRG-ONE’s solution has delivered:
- Reduced GHG emissions by up to 77%.
- Savings on reticulated water use at the site by 5%.
- A pipeline of attractive design and construct-ready sustainability investments.
- A clear path to remove $4.05 million in annual operating expense, valued at $16.35/head.
